Venice Photo Exhibit and Fundraiser

Anyone in Los Angeles on May 13th is welcome to come to my photo exhibit opening at Nikki’s, 72 Market Street, Venice, CA. I’ll be there by 9 and plan to stay through closing. Since I’m primarily showing Haiti work we’re making the event a fundraiser as well, with voluntary donations being collected at the door. As with my last fundraiser, the money will benefit Habitat for Humanity, with all money going directly to their efforts to provide shelter and long-term housing for those affected by the January earthquake. I’ll also have a few images from Venice up on the wall. Also note that there’s a special happy hour from 10-12, so drinks will be cheap! It should be a fun night. Hoping to see a good turnout!

mariachi band venice party

Chatty's birthday party mariachi band

I’ve been a bad blogger, but with one holiday after another things have been slow around here. However I do have a backlog of photos to post and will hopefully be better about putting them out there in the coming days. To get things going, here’s a shot from my neighbor Chatty’s kick-ass 40th birthday party, which was held a friend’s backyard in Venice. They decided to go all out by hiring a Mexican mariachi band for entertainment a taco truck to cater. As stark as the photo looks, it really was a good time.

P.S.  I’m still working on the Haiti fundraiser and will post details as soon as I have things figured out. I still haven’t landed a venue, but even if that doesn’t work out I’ll hold the fundraiser online. Hopefully both!

Just a quickie post from a fun 4th of July party. TK biked from Santa Monica to Marina del Rey with that shade on his head.

2009-06-06-carnevale-315Venice Beach held its 7th annual Carnevale! festival all day yesterday. It was right in my backyard so I couldn’t help but check it out. Dubbed “The Costumed Celebration by the Sea,” the event featured performances by lots of area bands, including Sugarbitch and The Bonedaddys, a costume contest and a fire-fueled grand finale by Mutaytor, a performance group of 30 drummers, fire-spinnners and dancers. Lots more photos after the jump!
