Crowds at the Abbot Kinney Festival

Place was packed!

Last Sunday we spent a couple hours at the Abbot Kinney Festival in Venice. The annual event is a huge draw to the area and features tent after tent of local vendors selling everything from handmade jewelry to some pretty tasty peanut brittle. There’s also live music and a couple of beer tents, one of which where we spent a sizable portion of our visit. Always a fun event if you don’t mind the crowds.

2009-06-06-carnevale-315Venice Beach held its 7th annual Carnevale! festival all day yesterday. It was right in my backyard so I couldn’t help but check it out. Dubbed “The Costumed Celebration by the Sea,” the event featured performances by lots of area bands, including Sugarbitch and The Bonedaddys, a costume contest and a fire-fueled grand finale by Mutaytor, a performance group of 30 drummers, fire-spinnners and dancers.
