Death Valley Sand Dunes
Eureka Sand Dunes, Death Valley, Calif.

I have lots of new photos to post, but most are from magazines assignments and haven’t been published yet. So, in an effort to avoid stagnation I went back through my Death Valley  photos and picked out a few new ones to post. More info about this trip can be seen 3 posts back, so I won’t repeat it here. More new work coming soon! Continue reading »

Mustang Sally on the Santa Monica Pier from David Zentz on Vimeo.

A few weeks ago I borrowed my friend Matt’s 5D Mark II to try out its video capabilities. I hadn’t shot video using a DSLR, so I thought we’d go out to the Santa Monica Pier to give it a try. Of course it turned out to be cloudy, but there was enough going on that I could test it out at least. Fortunately we found this kid dancing around to a rendition of Mustang Sally, which is both entertaining and gave me some natural sound to cut the video to. Enjoy.

Here’s a favorite from a recent wedding I shot for a great couple, Kellie and Jun. The reception was held at the Turnip Rose at Grand Newport Plaza, in Costa Mesa. It was a great venue with great lighting, especially on the dance floor, where I shot this as the couple enjoyed their last dance of the night. The ceremony was at the St. Bartholomew Church in Long Beach and was also very beautiful. I’ll be posting this and more from the ceremony on my wedding site in the near future.

2009-06-06-carnevale-315Venice Beach held its 7th annual Carnevale! festival all day yesterday. It was right in my backyard so I couldn’t help but check it out. Dubbed “The Costumed Celebration by the Sea,” the event featured performances by lots of area bands, including Sugarbitch and The Bonedaddys, a costume contest and a fire-fueled grand finale by Mutaytor, a performance group of 30 drummers, fire-spinnners and dancers. Lots more photos after the jump!
